ABSTRACT

THE Turkana, Dorobo and Rendille are neighbours of the Samburu, and a very brief comparison between certain features of their social systems and corresponding features of the Samburu social system provides a useful confirmation of a number of points raised in this study. Because they are their neighbours, the Samburu themselves are quite aware of these differences and of certain correlations between them; this is particularly true of their understanding of the Dorobo and Rendille with whom they have had close social relations over a long period, but it is less true of their understanding of the Turkana.
