ABSTRACT
Buildings provide shelter from weather and extremes of temperature, places for people to live, work or perform community activities. They also accommodate fireplaces or stoves, furniture, bedding, books, consumables and machinery. Construction of buildings is commonly related to regionally abundant materials and traditional techniques. The consequences can be recognized as vernacular styles of architecture in ordinary houses but may be combined with more exotic concepts at grander municipal levels.
