ABSTRACT
This chapter builds upon a series of UKSHEC working papers that review the literature on hydrogen energy modelling (Joffe and Strachan, 2007), compare and contrast the hydrogen modelling approach in three international MARKAL energy systems models (Joffe et al, 2007), and undertake an enhanced representation of hydrogen modelling in the UK MARKAL model (Balta-Ozkan et al, 2007). A summary of an extension to spatial hydrogen modelling is based on Strachan et al (2008a). Further detail on the methodology and policy insights of UK hydrogen modelling is given in a recent journal paper (Strachan et al, 2009).
