ABSTRACT
Among different proposals, our focus is mostly based on the intellectual debate around the evolutionary approach. It is particularly within this context that our analysis is developed along the lines of certain fairly stylized points, without loss of generality, such as: (a) the fact that firms are nested in larger systems that include institutions, organizations and networks; (b) the role of institutions in terms of their capacity either to retard or to support innovation, and (c) the role of co-evolutionary processes as a source of changes in the production system and institutions.
