ABSTRACT
An important question all forest managers considering certification should ask themselves is whether or not to get their forest certified. This is not the same as asking whether or not to manage the forest sustainably, which should be the goal of every responsible manager. Certification is the process of verifying that forest management meets the requirements of a responsible forest management standard. It is only useful to confirm that you are implementing the requirements of a standard if there is a reason for doing so.
