Not only will a concerted communication effort maintain the momentum of your sustainability effort, it will help all stakeholders to understand the issues and frameworks related to sustainability and enable employees to see opportunities to reduce waste, costs and impacts, as well as discover innovations. Communicating with and training all employees also gives them a shared mental model, a way of organizing and talking about the issues, and facilitates cooperation across organizational boundaries. Helping people to understand the concepts and its application to an organization has also been shown to be a powerful motivator.
