ABSTRACT

This chapter looks at some of the key choices to be made when designing an FLR programme and the trade-offs that may be involved in making such choices. It also describes the use of scenario modelling as a tool for making the choices explicit and exploring the different restoration options with stakeholders. Understanding the major trade-offs involved and the kinds of compromises that will need to be sought is crucial to the success of the planned restoration work, considering the different and sometimes conflicting objectives of the many stakeholders involved.
