ABSTRACT

Few law libraries exist without dependence upon a larger organization or institution. Therefore, the law library director must actively seek the support of administrators of the parent organization to ensure that the library holds a secure and valued position. In academic law libraries, this is slightly easier because of accreditation and professional standards which establish minimum requirements. However, even in such environments, there is growing pressure to contain or reduce costs, and law librarians in all types of organizations must be prepared to justify collection and staffing costs.
