ABSTRACT

Seven halogenated substances, of which six are controlled by the Montreal Protocol, have been used as firefighting agents at one time or the other: carbon tetrachloride (halon-104), methyl bromide (halon-1001), chlorobromomethane (halon-1011), dibromodifluoromethane (halon-1202), bromochlorodifluoromethane (halon-1211), bromotrifluoromethane (halon-1301) and dibromotetrafluoroethane (halon-2402).
