ABSTRACT

Information technology increasingly influences daily life. This development is also taking over the control of many functions in homes. The complexity of controlling building services increases with the number of functions to be controlled. Conventionally, a multitude of different systems work in parallel. Each system needs its own communication lines and network. This is where conventional electrical installation, which has been oriented around distributing and switching electrical power, is confronted by technical and economic limitations in trying to take over multiple additional control functions.
