ABSTRACT

Sustainable building design involves a wide range of complex issues within fields of building physics, environmental sciences, architecture and marketing. An integrated approach to sustainable building design would address these diverse aspects in a holistic way. Sustainable building design views the individual building systems not as isolated entities, but as closely connected and interacting with the rest of the building. In an integrated approach, all the diverse design criteria need to be traded off against each other in order to make decisions for the ‘overall goodness’ of the design.
