ABSTRACT
The organizing question for the chapters of this group was “How can cognitive skills be taught?” Not only the chapters of this group, but all the chapters of these volumes present ideas and research that are pertinent to this question. Note that the way the question is phrased indicates the belief that cognitive skills can be taught. Indeed, many of the chapters presented offer not only that belief but evidence for its validity.
