ABSTRACT

This book set out to address whether responsible tourism could be used as a development tool – for both biodiversity conservation and poverty alleviation. The practitioners who have contributed chapters to this book have supplemented the body of knowledge on this issue, by exploring these issues across southern Africa. Cumulatively, the authors provide systematic and tangible evidence of the successes and failures of tourism to fight poverty, and to enhance conservation.
