ABSTRACT

The Global Ecological Integrity Project is a decades-long interdisciplinary collaboration to elucidate and draw the implications of the vague, but powerful, concept of ecological integrity. From the beginning, a guiding hope of the project has been that it might make a real difference in arresting the steady deterioration of the ecosphere while promoting human wellbeing, first by clarifying the integrity concept, which, like health, combines descriptive and valuational attributes, and then by drawing the ethical, social and practical implications to create more just, sustainable and Earth-friendly ways of life.
