ABSTRACT
If products from wild plants become traded, then pressure on populations of wild plants can dramatically increase. Interventions in favour of conservation are possible at various points along the chains of production and trade. Actions taken at ‘higher’ points in trade systems – away from the sites where the plants grow – must feed back to the production level if they are to have conservation benefits.
