ABSTRACT

There are numerous uses for software in photovoltaics. For example, in planning, it is a case of designing and optimizing the PV system. Sizing programs and simulators enable threshold values and operating states to be checked and finally simulate operation itself in many different variations. For exact yield forecasts and yield reports, the use of simulators is required. Simulators have traditionally also been employed in research and development, or again by component manufacturers. If the aim is to improve, optimize or develop new components and system concepts, simulation software can be used. This helps to reduce undesirable developments and can also lessen the scope of experiments. As well as these applications, programs can also be put to good use for education and training purposes.
