ABSTRACT

The Republic of South Africa, inextricably part of the Third World, shares the problem that no amount of technology in education-as opposed to a technology of education-will ever solve the educational problems of developing countries. With an estimated 7 million Black pupils expected at school in 1990 and approximately 9011,10 of Black teachers at present underqualified, the temptation is strong to turn to "instant" solutions such as modern computer technology to overcome the host of learning deficiencies prevalent amongst the students concerned.
