Globalization – the spread of capitalism to ever more areas of social life and parts of the world – is the central story of the current era. From the depths of the Amazon to the farthest reaches of Central Asia, from California’s Silicon Valley to Taiwan’s Hsinchu Industrial Park, people around the world are ever more deeply interconnected via long and complicated chains of market-based production and consumption, selling and buying.
