ABSTRACT

It is essential that the user be able to work and communicate effectively with the computer. This chapter works out some of the details of the tasks which were discussed in the previous chapter. Various potential problem areas are reviewed including work styles, sources of discontent in terms of new work practice, dialogue systems (the way in which computers communicate with users) and the security of different user groups. Security can be seen as a way of protecting the system from the user as well as a means of safeguarding valuable and sensitive information.
