ABSTRACT

Operational controls link intention to reality in the same way that nerves and senses link thoughts and the physical world. We can probably all think of organizations who are either ‘all brain’ (great product design, shame about the quality) or ‘all brawn’ (terrific marketing and after sales, shame about the product). These are extremes which could be ameliorated by better overall control between intention and action. When you are managing environmental impacts, you’ll need to make changes at this level.
