ABSTRACT

Organizations use a wide range of products, from basic items such as paper to composite materials such as plastics and electrical components, and bulk materials such as iron and aggregates. The bought-in element of an organization’s activities can be the source of its highest environmental impacts; however, environment is only part of the picture. People make products and provide services and the way they are treated and their terms and conditions of employment are equally important. Then of course organizations have to cover their costs or make a return on shareholders’ funds otherwise they are not economically viable.
