ABSTRACT

The aim of these case studies is to research ways that theatre is used in development projects and to create and test new techniques. Many of the participants had some previous experience of working with role play and games for building group co-operation, but most had never considered the idea of working on issues such as sexuality or citizenship through theatre. The workshops were, therefore, a catalyst for the inclusion of theatre-based participatory techniques into the methodology of the majority of participants in the studies.
