One of the major drivers of biofuel developments worldwide is concern about global climate change, caused primarily by the burning of fossil fuels. There is substantial scientific evidence not only that the Earth is warming, but that this warming is happening at an accelerating rate as emissions of greenhouse gases (GHGs) continue to rise.1
