ABSTRACT

If health practitioners can get involved with the strategic planning systems and

processes led by local government in their local areas, they can help to ensure

that health is central to the design of their local communities. This may sound

arid and boring, but it really is very important to creating healthy, sustainable,

low-carbon communities! The impacts of climate instability, obesity and other

health challenges should be the focus for health practitioner interaction with

the planning process. The aim should be to get health and climate change

objectives into the key documents, the frameworks and plans, from the outset.
