ABSTRACT

The first four chapters of this book explored the processes of historical enquiry: selecting sources, interpreting sources, combining sources to create accounts or interpretations about changes over time, causes and effects of changes and similarities and differences between past times. Chapter 5 explored the reasons why teachers and children in the three reports that underpin this book said that they enjoy teaching history. The intention was to encourage you to develop your own imaginative ideas about how to use the resources and expertise available in your locality, community and school, in ways which you, the children and their families will find meaningful, worthwhile and engaging.
