ABSTRACT

This final chapter charts some of the moments in which I have met some of the participants since the fieldwork finished in the summer of 2005. Sadly, I am not in touch with anyone but these short exchanges say something about the scene in which some continue to participate and my position outside these dynamics. The difficulty I have is that I know what goes on in this world, and delicate feelings and emotions now surface very quickly in such moments. You will also see that, over the years, I have also come to encounter similar populations around the world. The way I see these groups seems to relate to my experiences with the people I met in Rivertown during 2004/5 because they gave me an awareness which I now can’t seem to disengage. Though not intimate, my moments with these groups are also included in this chapter because I feel this says something about the world we live in and the world they live in. So in writing this book, I hope you now have a greater insight into the world they live in so you can reflect on the world we live in.
