ABSTRACT

Contemporary Western culture expects objective resolutions for conflicts which are essentially metaphysical in nature. But doctrine creates rather than resolves that literalism of the biologic which underlies these disputes. Most of the world's people and all of its mystics have presumed spiritual dimensions beyond the biologic. Whether such phenomena are considered in the Western context of “afterlife” or in the eastern tradition of progressing physical “in carnations,” a transcendent “soul” or “entity” is posited.
