ABSTRACT

At the end of World War IT, American business held an unassailable position. It had privileged entree to most of the world outside of the communist bloc. A small percentage of U.S. business moved abroad, concentrating fIrst and quite logically on Europe. It later moved into the somewhat mysterious world of Asia, primarily to those countries where American power was most manifest, namely Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea. American skills in management, personnel, accounting, fInancing, and production were admired and emulated there.
