ABSTRACT

The social sciences are in the midst of a vast knowledge explosion. A burgeoning number of scholars are projecting a complex collage of ideas and findings in an ever-increasing number of written forms. These developments have been propelled by an expanded cadre of social scientists together with substantial governmental support for social research. There has been vastly increased acceptance of social science knowledge by officials and the public since World War II. Developments also have been aided by improved research methodology and leaps in computer technology.
