ABSTRACT
First a word on what we are not talking about. There are economists, some of them Marxists, who to this day declare that a positive economics, regarded as a scientific study, does not exist except as a bourgeois illusion; that, indeed, what is spoken of as mainstream economics (as taught in the better universities of the West) is fraught with value judgements which, apparently, the economics profession conspires to ignore.
