ABSTRACT

This article outlines the Music Library Association’s activities in bibliographic instruction, which include both presentations and publications, at the Midwest Chapter and national levels during the years 1978–1986. Although there has been emphasis on bibliographic instruction within the general library profession since the 1960’s, work with bibliographic instruction in the Music Library Association did not begin until 1978. The first committee on bibliographic instruction originated in the Midwest Chapter at that time, with a subcommittee at the national level being organized in 1983. Several publications and a variety of conference presentations have resulted from the work of these committees.
