ABSTRACT

The inaugural volume of the series “Bio-Bibliographies in Music” was the author’s Thea Musgrave of 1984. Each volume of the series consists of a brief biography, a complete list of works, discography, an annotated bibliography, appropriate appendices, and an index. The bulk of each volume is the annotated bibliography of writing about and, if appropriate, by the composer. One of the purposes of the series is also to provide excerpts from performance reviews, the annotations to which often include quotations from reviews in the contemporary American and foreign press. The article also describes the criteria for the selection of titles and process of preparation and publication.
