ABSTRACT

Bibliographic instruction, teaching the use of the library, has only recently been given attention in library schools. There are still not many library schools that offer separate courses in bibliographic instruction. The position of bibliographic instruction within the library is new, as the discipline itself was only relatively recently recognized among professional circles. Bibliographic instruction builds confidence and efficiency in the use of the library, makes class assignments more profitable, and helps to free time for librarians while making demands on the library’s resources.
