ABSTRACT
The case of Karen Ann Quinlan became a cornerstone for, indeed, all but synonymous with, the right-to-die movement over the decade and a half following the New Jersey Supreme Court’s decision. While limited in jurisdiction, this decision’s framing importance for the boundaries of protected life and patient autonomy was broadly felt and is hard to overestimate.
