the "new theology" or "dialectical theology" movement that dominated European theology during the 1920's and 1930's and profoundly influenced American theology, Brunner lectured widely, published frequently, and was an influential and respected theologian, especially in English-speaking religious circles. His work on behalf of such international organizations as the Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA) and the Ecumenical Movement earned for Brunner the reputation of a world Christian theologian.
