Early Life Avril Phaedra "Kim" Campbell was born on March 10, 1947, in Port Alberni, British Columbia. Her father George was a Canadian soldier in World War II who later became a lawyer. George Campbell married Lissa Cook in 1944. Their first child, Alix, was born in 1945, followed by Avril Phaedra two years later.
