ABSTRACT

This chapter will introduce you to various aspects of news: what news is, how to recognize and generate it, what makes events newsworthy, and how to enhance the news value of an organization’s activities. It also will address legal concepts that affect public relations writing, particularly defamation and privacy. Here are your objectives for Chapter 5:

Veteran journalists and public relations people seem to just “know” what is newsworthy or how to make something more newsworthy. News is also a matter of preference-like politics, art, religion, and computer platforms.
