ABSTRACT

The liberal premises create an optimistic worldview grounded in the prospect of a better future. Humans are good when given a chance, and society is improvable in ways that will offer that opportunity. But the flip side of being optimistic about the future is being critical of the present. The idea that humans are born innocent and corrupted by society suggests that our society is corrupt in important ways. The liberal premises highlight the

failings of contemporary society and a vision of a more just order. This means breaking forms of oppression, resulting in social justice.
