ABSTRACT
As discussed in Chapter 6, biooxidation of sulfide minerals in ore heaps and mine waste dumps is an important source of copper requiring very large amounts of oxygen. Heap biooxidation is also expected to become important for the pretreatment of sulfide refractory gold ores.
