ABSTRACT

We have chosen to discuss the Hefer Valley region because it presents a number of special characteristics. Among the regional councils it contains the largest number of settlements, it has the largest number of inhabitants and is situated in the geographical centre of the country. It does not have the largest area, however, nor is the council particularly active in the economic sphere, for reasons which we shall discuss here. Our main reason, however, for choosing this region is because of its immense potential for the creation of an agrindus in the heart of Israel.
