ABSTRACT

In recent years, the management of support systems has become a central role for SENCos or senior staff in most schools. Many kinds of additional staff have been funded by the LA or the school to support pupils with SEN. Most pupils with statements for SEN will have been allocated such support and this is often provided by Teaching Assistants (TAs), previously known as Learning Support Assistants (LSAs). The SENCo’s role in relation to the coordination and management of support is therefore likely to be significant.
