ABSTRACT

There are definitions of mild brain injury, which relate to medical measurements, the most commonly used being the Glasgow Coma Scale (Teasdale and Jennet 1974). This assesses a person’s level of responsiveness. A child with a mild injury may not lose consciousness – or if he does it will not be for a significant length of time – but will suffer a concussion (see types below). He may not be admitted to hospital or may only be kept there for overnight observation.
