ABSTRACT

We 'fall in love' with particular books to precisely the extent to which they correspond to what is potentially inside of us. The love affairs will be more intense if the match is closer, less passionate if the match is only partial. But as with both friends and lovers, we do not simply see ourselves in the mirror of the other; we also learn new things, extend our inner worlds, enrich them, and furnish them with new possibilities.
