ABSTRACT
A little girl, Mary, is always called ‘Mary Mary’ by her family and friends. This is because, like her namesake in the nursery rhyme, she is always contrary. Whatever you say she says the opposite. If you say it is a hot day she'll say it's cold. So when she tells everyone that she is not afraid of the giant who lives on the hill, no one believes her; they think she is just being contrary as usual. One day Mary sets off to visit the giant and takes her friends with her. The children find that he needs help. What is the matter with the giant and can the children help him?
