ABSTRACT

As one illustration of the kind of effect that acupuncture can have upon conditions of extreme stress, reference may be made to recent work on surgical shock in cats (Anon. 143). After severe experimental losses of blood, acupuncture at the philtrum (TM 25, 26) delayed by half the tinle taken for the blood-pressure to fall to 50 mm Hg. The follo\ving table summarises this and other effects.
