ABSTRACT
Chapter 2 emphasized the significance of the information needs of deci
sion makers in shaping policy research. Each case discusses the informa
tion needs of the various decision makers, relating them to the typology
of needs discussed in that chapter. Because real research situations virtu
ally always require a variety of types of information, the discussion in
some cases identifies the relative priority of different information needs.
