In recent years we have had a spate of American intelligence releases, the appearance in the Public Record Office of British Joint Intelligence Committee (JIC) estimates, the publication of Soviet and other documents in the Washington Cold War International History Project, and even an officially sponsored Norwegian intelligence history. To young Cold War historians Wordsworth's words must apply:
Bliss was it in that dawn to be alive,
But to be young was very heaven!
