ABSTRACT
AN earlier book in this series told the story of the Industrial Revolution which took place between the years 1760 and i86o.1 It was a revolution resulting from the introduction of a new form of power-steam power. Its basic materials were coal for fuel, and iron for making steam engines and the machines they drove.
