ABSTRACT
On 1 January 1947 the Constitution of the Republic of China (ROC) was promulgated in Nanjing, the then capital of China. Although this document is long-forgotten in its birthplace and has been revised repeatedly over the last two decades, it remains the constitution of Taiwan today. By studying the ROC constitution we can better understand the rules and structure of the political game and how these changed in different political eras.
