ABSTRACT

This chapter aims to explore the important role that the duty to promote community cohesion plays within our current British education system. It will discuss the key cohesion issues in Britain and the role of schools in tackling some of the most pressing social issues facing us now and in the future. This chapter will also explore the challenges for schools in promoting community cohesion and highlight good practice. In its conclusion, the chapter will raise some important issues for senior management, teachers and governors to consider in taking forward this agenda.
